The story of Vernier Haunt — where careful hands and quiet dedication meet every timepiece that comes through our doors.

Our Story

Vernier Haunt was established in 2009, born from a simple conviction: that every watch deserves the same careful attention regardless of its market value. What began as a modest workshop on the outskirts of District 1 has grown into a dedicated space for horological care, now located on Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa — one of Saigon's most accessible thoroughfares.

The name itself reflects our approach. "Vernier" refers to the fine-graduated scale used for precise measurement, while "Haunt" speaks to the enduring, almost haunting relationship between a watchmaker and the movements they come to know intimately. We chose it because it captures what we value: precision and presence.

Over the years, we have built a quiet reputation among collectors, everyday wearers, and visitors to Hồ Chí Minh City who find themselves in need of professional watch care. Our team draws from both local expertise and international training in Swiss and Japanese horological traditions. We do not rush. We do not cut corners. And we communicate openly about what we find, what we recommend, and what it will cost.

Our mission is straightforward: to extend the life of your timepiece through honest, skilled work — and to return it to you in the best condition the craft allows.

Written Documentation

Every service concludes with a detailed report. For vintage work, archival-quality photographs accompany the conservation record.

Secure Handling

Timepieces are catalogued on arrival, stored in individual compartments, and tracked throughout the service process. Our workspace is access-controlled.

Tested Materials

We source lubricants, gaskets, and replacement parts from verified suppliers. Period-correct materials are used for vintage preservation wherever possible.

Client Privacy

Information about your timepiece and personal details are kept confidential. We respect the privacy of collectors and their collections.

Our Values and Expertise

At Vernier Haunt, we see watch repair as a dialogue between craftsperson and mechanism. Each timepiece arrives with its own history, its own set of wear patterns, and its own needs. We take time to understand these before recommending any course of action. This careful assessment is what sets professional horology apart from hurried service work.

Our expertise covers a broad range of mechanical and quartz movements — from modern Swiss automatics and Japanese hand-wound calibers to mid-century dress watches and vintage chronographs. The diversity of work keeps our skills sharp and allows us to draw on cross-disciplinary knowledge when a challenging repair presents itself.

We are particularly known in the Hồ Chí Minh City collector community for our conservation-focused approach to vintage pieces. Rather than defaulting to aggressive restoration, we advocate for methods that maintain the character and authenticity of older watches. This philosophy has earned us the trust of owners who view their timepieces as part of a broader horological heritage.

Whether you are visiting our District 1 workshop with a family heirloom or a daily wearer that has started losing time, you will find the same level of attentiveness. We believe that good work speaks quietly — and we are content to let it.
